    How wide should a footing be?

    Standard rule: footing width should be at least twice the wall width. For an 8-inch block wall, use a 16-inch wide footing. For a 2x6 framed wall (5.5 in), a 12-inch footing is minimum. Heavily loaded walls or poor soil may require wider footings — consult an engineer.

    How much does a concrete footing cost?

    Do footings need rebar?

    Can I pour footings in cold weather?

    Concrete should not freeze within 48 hours of pouring. Below 4°C (40°F), use hot water in the mix, insulating blankets, and consider accelerators. Below -7°C (20°F), heated enclosures are needed. Never pour on frozen ground — it will settle when it thaws.
